Job applications:
Job applications are a sitter’s first contact with a parent, and function as a direct message. Although it’s not viewable to the public, it’s important to leave out any personally identifiable information that you may not want to share right away with a stranger. Job applications on Sittercity serve as a way to introduce yourself as a sitter, and describe why you think you’re a good fit for the job. We do not advise sending any personally identifiable information such as your last name, phone number, email address, home address, and references’ information until you are comfortable moving forward with a parent’s interview process. Additionally, web links, social media references, referrals to other services or providers, spam, gibberish content, inappropriate language, harassment, discrimination, and content that is not related to seeking a job is not permitted.
Messages between users:
Messages on Sittercity are meant for parents and sitters to arrange interviews and sittings, to ask relevant questions about the job or the sitter’s experience, and to see if each party is generally a good fit for each other. Messages between users shall not contain web links, social media references, referrals to other services or providers, spam, gibberish content, inappropriate language, harassment, discrimination, and content that is irrelevant to seeking a sitter or seeking jobs. Keep in mind that all communications should remain professional and courteous.
Profile bios and profile photos:
Sitter profiles are public and contain a self-written bio by the sitter. These written portions of a profile shall not contain and personally identifiable information such as last names, phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses, business and school names and addresses, references’ information, or other information such as web links, social media references, referrals to other services or providers, spam, gibberish content, inappropriate language, and content that is not related to your background as a sitter. Profile photos have their own set of guidelines which can be viewed here for sitters.
