I received a booking request from a parent on Sittercity. What does this mean?
Some parents on Sittercity have benefits through their employer that help them cover the cost of childcare. Booking is a feature that parents with this benefit will use.
When you receive a booking request from a parent, this means they want to hire you to provide care for their family for the date, time, and at the location provided in the request. The booking request does not mean you will be paid through the Sittercity site—it simply means that you are agreeing to be scheduled and provide care to that family.
You and the family you’re working with should still discuss the care schedule, pay rate, method of payment, and any other important job details before you meet.
I’m new to Sittercity, and I received a booking request from a parent. I need more info about this website.
Welcome! Sittercity is an online meeting platform for caregivers to independently search and apply for jobs posted by families in their area. You can read more about how Sittercity works here!
Care providers on Sittercity create public profiles to find local care jobs. The following are the types of care jobs that are posted on the site:
-
- Babysitting
- Nannying
- Pet Care
- Companion Care
- Housekeeping
Parents on Sittercity will post their available job, browse caregiver profiles, and go through their own hiring process to find a caregiver that meets their family’s care needs.
Parents and caregivers can exchange messages securely through the Sittercity website, set up interviews, run background checks and more. When a family wants to hire you, they will become your employer and are responsible for paying you based on your agreed-upon rate and form of payment.
I accepted a booking, provided care to the family, and was paid—why do I need to confirm care on Sittercity?
Certain parents on Sittercity have benefits through their employer that help them cover the cost of childcare. In order for parents to receive these benefits through their employer, they need you as their care provider to verify that care took place.
All you need to do is simply tap 'Confirm' to submit your response.
Care must be confirmed within a certain time frame, so please be sure to verify that you provided care as soon as possible.
I made a mistake when I was confirming care.
Please reach out to our Customer Success team to let us know you confirmed care incorrectly.
I received a booking request from a family, but I don’t have a Sittercity account. What do I do now?
You can sign up as a sitter here. You will be asked to fill out your caregiver profile first, then go through an identity verification to create your Sittercity account. Once you’ve completed these steps and have successfully set up your account, you can go back to the email you received to access your booking request, or go to your Bookings page to find the request again.
If you do not wish to create a Sittercity account, we recommend speaking with the parent who sent you the booking request to let them know.
I tried creating my Sittercity account but I experienced an issue.
Please reach out to our Customer Success team for assistance with your account.
I want to create my account and accept a booking request, but I don’t want to be visible on Sittercity after the booking is complete.
No worries! You have the option to hide your profile, or you may close your account after the booking is complete.
I accepted a booking request but I am no longer available to provide care.
You may cancel your booking by going to your Bookings tab and canceling the request. We also recommend that you send a message to the family to let them know you’re no longer available.
